Bonjour tout le monde! Happy Friday!
Today was a biiiiig day. We woke up around 8 and had to run to the dining hall because breakfast closes at 8:30. We made it by literally one minute, but at least we got it. We had 6 hours of french class on the schedule, 3 in the morning and 3 in the afternoon. When we got to french class, I found out I had been placed in the beginner level. I didn't care much and just went with it, but everyone else in the class was basically completely new to french and the morning class was painfully boring for me. The professor did her best to keep me engaged and be critical of my grammar and pronunciation, but even so. After class I talked to her about moving to the upper group, and she told me she would talk to the other professor about it.
We all went to lunch and tried out a different part of the dining hall. Today they had french fries (I can hear my dad saying "are they just normal fries if they're in France?") and lunch was fun.
When we returned for our afternoon French class my professor told me I was moved. I was nervous to move up to the other class because I wasn't sure of their level. There were only 4 of us, and other student has missed the morning class. Our professor explained our project for the trip and sent us on our way. We have to explore specific sections of Lyon, take pictures, interview locals, and present a powerpoint about it. While everyone else is learning French, we get to go out an explore!

We agreed on where to go today, but decided not to do any interviews because we hadn't prepared any questions. We went to La Confluence, which is a more modern section of the city. We went to the Musèe de Confluence (the museum of Confluence) and it was so interesting to walk through. It was a pretty normal museum but so fun.

After that, our group met up with the other kids from the program in the city center. We found a Lebanese restaurant and ate delicious food and had some drinks. The we went to a little bar and played some games, and finished up the night with some wine and a view of the river. We sat for a few hours just talking and enjoying the view.
some of the people on the trip!!
Around 11 we decided to head back, and the train and tram were both filled with people our age. We talked to some people before getting off at our stop and heading to bed. Tomorrow is a big festival called 24H INSA and we're preparing for that tomorrow morning!
The moral of this story: Choose the option outside of your comfort zone if you want to ever become better at anything.
À plus tard!
