Farewell Cocktail

Bonjour tout le monde!!

Today was our last day of classes, which means finals. It's crazy to believe it's already over, I can't believe how fast it went.

Our first class today was Intercultural class at 8:30 am. We talked for awhile about our progression in the class. For the last couple hours of the class, we had to write an essay on how we can apply what we learned in this class to our personal and professional lives. Shoutout to Sean if you're reading this, this class was actually useful and interesting.

During our lunch break, Will and Brett and Sam decided to go to the mall and get clothes for our party tonight. Andrea, Talia, Parker and I went to the pizza restaurant for lunch. Our topic of conversation was the British Royal family, which the girls thought was interesting but Parker disagreed.

After lunch, we had Management and Innovation. We had to give our final presentations, which was complicated for me considering I had no voice. We had to pick some details (length and audience) right before our presentation, and my group drew a 20 minute presentation to future investors. We felt really good about our presentation, and we knew how to answer every question. After all the groups had presented, we left the room and our judges (our professor and her coworker) scored us. They came up with three categories and ranked us in each, so that everyone would be first once. My group one second place in the other two categories, and won first in overall presentation.

After class, we headed home to get ready for tonight's cocktail party. All of the international staff and our teachers were invited, and we had one more presentation to give. Andrea and I met Brett and Parker downstairs at 5:45. We took a bus to the event space, and met everyone else there. Everyone looked really nice all dressed up, so we took a bunch of pictures. There was plenty of wine and finger foods, so we walked around and talked to everyone. A few people gave some speeches and then we gave our presentations. We were given a quote a few weeks back, and had to come up with our own interpretation of it. The quote was "While it is important to always remain humble in the face of science, allow yourself to be ambitious and empower your actions".

My group cut out objects and held them in front of a projector so that only their silhouettes were seen, not the person holding it. We also had a speech in the background about staying humble. We ended up winning fourth place. The other groups had amazing projects as well. One group created a train of thought to symbolize ideas, another group made a video with clips from the trip to show our growth and progress (they also interviewed some of us so I was in the video personally and felt very special), another made a poem about innovation, and the final group did a skit about Lyonnaise inventors.

everyone at the cocktail party!!!!

I don't know everyone in the photo, but I want to try to record some names.

back row: an IOT teacher, Sean, Parker, Jonathon, me, Will, Talia, Brett, Xiyo, Pierre, our first aide guy, Stephania , Sam, and a girl

middle row: Clarisse, Clare, Nicole, Selena, Yeong Hui, Hakyung, Chloe, Tara, Andrea

front row: Caitlyn, Jovanka, Bernice, Kary, and a lady I don't know

Overall the cocktail party was a ton of fun, and it was great to be able to interact with our peers and professors outside of an academic context. After all the adults had left, we had a little karaoke moment before packing up. It was great to let loose and be silly with the whole group.

We all headed back to campus on the bus. We weren't ready to go to bed yet, so Andrea, Talia, Will and I went to Brett and Parker's room to drink some wine and hang out for awhile.

Tonight was another really great night with my favorite people.

À plus tard,

Maggie
