Bonjour tout le monde!
Today we met at 7:30 to go on a day trip north of Lyon! We went to the Chiroubles area, which is known for hillsides covered in vineyards. We visited a vineyard ran by some INSA alumni, and learned all about the process of creating different types of wine. We also learned the history of this vineyard, which dates back 5 generations.
We tasted four types of wine: a rosé, two reds, and a sparkling white. I feel like we are all starting to get a feel for what we like. Personally, I like rosé and white wines the best. During our tasting, the owner also taught us all of the technicalities of wine tasting, like where to hold the glass, observing the color, and so on. After the tasting we had an opportunity to buy some, so of course we all too advantage of that. I bought a rosé and a cork screw with the name of the vineyard on it.

After our tasting we went to a little village called Oingt. It was voted the cutest town in France in 2017, and for good reason. It looked like it was straight out of a fairytale. It was filled with little artisan shops and a few restaurants. I bought a little plate and we all got some ice cream.

After we left Oingt, we all slept on the bus ride home. We relaxed at home for a bit, and then decided to go into town for some dinner. We were also told about a concert, and thought we would check it out. We went to a place recommended by a friend that had tacos that are way more like paninis than tacos. Our portions were huge but there were fries so we were content.
We walked up a huge hill to try and find this concert. There wasn't a concert, but we did find a good bar. We spent some time there and then walked back down the hill. We ended up sitting by the river for awhile and enjoying the view.
À plus tard!
Maggie
